Few Americans Blame God or Say Faith Has Been Shaken Amid Pandemic
The pandemic has brought on much human suffering, yet most U.S. adults say bad things just happen, and that people are often the reason. This study by Pew Research Center surveyed U.S. adults about why they believe bad things happen. The finds show that Americans largely blame random chance – along with people’s own actions and the way society is structured – for human suffering. Relatively few believers blame God for the pandemic and other tragedies, or voice doubts about the existence of God for this reason.
